CHICAGO, IL, December 8, 2016 – Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that the South Dakota Board of Regents has chosen the Ex Libris Alma® library management service and the Primo® discovery and delivery platform for use across South Dakota’s higher education system. The Board of Regents selected these solutions to cover all areas of library management, with a particular focus on handling electronic resources.
The Alma service will enrich member libraries with collaborative capabilities that, in addition to providing a communal platform and resource-sharing, enable each library to retain its institutional preferences and policies. In addition, the cloud-based platform will eliminate the overhead and costs of on-premises system administration. These benefits, combined with institutional workflow efficiencies, will help the South Dakota libraries overcome budget pressures they are facing.
Warren Wilson, Executive Director of the South Dakota Regents Library System, commented, “Implementing Alma and Primo is an exciting step for our libraries. Collaboration between libraries will now be significantly easier, and the cloud-based services provided through Alma and Primo promise to reduce costs at a critical time for our libraries. The improved discovery and management efficiencies that we gain will help both our patrons and our staff.”
Eric Hines, president of Ex Libris North America, noted, “We are excited to bring consortium-wide efficiency and electronic resource management to the South Dakota Board of Regents institutions. Patrons and librarians across South Dakota will now benefit from both streamlined library management and enhanced discovery.”
