Clients of our 360 MARC Updates service will begin receiving modified RDA format records.  RDA records are being modified to appear as close to AACR2 records as possible to ensure a seamless experience for your library’s users.  In March 2013 all new Library of Congress records will be in RDA record format.  With this change to our system, new reports will deliver better records with better metadata, while also delivering more full Library of Congress records and a decline in the number of brief records.

As always, the latest news about Serials Solutions Knowledgebase updates and database changes as well as newly added providers and databases can be found in the Support Center.  Highlights of changes include:

  • A database level change to the CONSER record set which may have caused clients to receive a higher number of change records than normal in November.
  • URLs for the new Springer platform will be available starting this month.  Databases containing Springer content that was formerly on the MetaPress platform are slated to be deactivated.
  • Gale clients are migrating from Business & Company Resource Center to Business Insights: Essentials
  • New databases include several regional LexisNexis databases including LexisNexis Academic (Europe), LexisNexis Academic (Latin America-Caribbean), and LexisNexis Academic (Africa-Middle East); ten Oxford Handbooks collections;  and four Elsevier collections including ScienceDirect eTextbooks.
  • The database Westlaw for Law Schools from provider Thomson West is migrating to two new databases Lawschool – Full-text Titles and Lawschool – Selected Full-text Titles
