We received two fantastic entries from the University of Nevada Reno libraries as part of our Share Your Library photo contest. Submissions featuring the Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center and the DeLaMare Science & Tech Library displayed the versatility of the modern library.

Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center

While building operations staff engineer a holiday “book tree” in the middle of the atrium of the library, the perimeter is alive with learning and research activity; a staff member on the fourth floor of the library commented “it’s like being in the middle of a giant think tank!”

The @One floor (Learning Commons) actively serves the research and multi-literacy needs of today's digital environment

While a concert took place in the rotunda on the other end of the breezeway, one observer noted “there’s a lot more going on in the library than just books.”

DeLaMare Science & Tech Library

Located in the historic Mackay Mines building on the campus of the University of Nevada, Reno, the DeLaMare Science & Engineering Library is undergoing a renaissance of activity - students and faculty are rediscovering and engaging with the library.

On the second floor of the library, a group of Master’s and Ph.D. students from the Computer Science program demonstrating custom games they’ve developed to leverage the capability of the library-provided development Microsoft Surface touchscreen device.

On the third floor of the library, mid-term tensions run high as learners make use of the over one thousand square feet of whiteboard walls in the library.
