Winners of the Nobel Prize have a unique level of prestige in the world, as pioneers in science, economic theory, literature, medicine, and contributors to world peace.

Some unique facts about Nobel Prizes:

  • Prizes cannot be shared among more than three people
  • The monetary award is now up to $1.2 million US (8 million SEK, or .93 million Euros)
  • The Peace Prize is awarded by the Norwegian Nobel Committee, while the others are awarded by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, the Swedish Academy, and the Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Intituet
