The Intota Online Community site is a place for libraries to share information, ask for help, discuss problems and lessons learned, and simply enjoy talking with colleagues using applications in the Intota product suite. ProQuest staff members maintain and monitor the Intota Online Community and will contribute content as appropriate, but the nature of the discussion is a reflection of the interests of the Community's members.

Guidelines for participating:

State concisely and clearly the topic of your forum post. This allows participants to respond more appropriately to your posting and makes it easier for them find relevant content when they search the archives by subject.

You own your own words and, by the same token, should obtain permission before using the words of others. This means that you should assume that no one will copy and share part or all of your message(s) by e-mail, on a web page, or otherwise use them without your permission. You shouldn't do any of these things yourself, nor should you post material that is protected by copyright—such as images or complete articles copied from another source—unless you are the copyright holder or have the author's permission. Fair use allows the posting of small excerpts; posting a link to the full article, when possible, is encouraged.

Safeguard your privacy. Intota Online Community participation is limited to staff members at libraries that have subscribed to Intota and ProQuest employees, who are expected to exercise good judgment in sharing personally identifiable or other sensitive information. E-mail and online forums are inherently insecure communication platforms, and ProQuest cannot guarantee that your comments will remain private.

Stay on topic.
Your comments should be relevant to the forum or discussion thread. If they are not, they may be moved or, in some cases, even deleted.

Do not post commercial messages.
The Intota Online Community is intended for noncommercial use. Sharing recommendations for products and services for which you have no financial interest is permitted. Advertising products or services in which you have a commercial interest is not permitted.

A few things to remember:

  • Please keep in mind that community members may claim expertise that they do not, in fact, possess. Thoughtful discretion should be given to all advice found on the site.
  • The views expressed by community members on the site do not necessarily reflect those of ProQuest.
  • This site is not a substitute for reporting support incidents through the Support Center. To ensure appropriate attention to these issues, please formally log a case with our Customer Experience group.

The conversation belongs to everybody

The platform is ProQuest's, but the conversation belongs to everybody. We want this to be a welcoming space for productive discussion and knowledge exchange, and we expect participants to help us achieve this by notifying us of potential problems and helping each other to keep conversations relevant and appropriate. If you spot something problematic in community interaction areas, please report it. When we all take responsibility for maintaining an appropriate and constructive environment, the debate itself is improved and everyone benefits.
