ANN ARBOR, Mich., July 9, 2003 - ProQuest Company's Information and Learning unit now offers scholarly journals published by Johns Hopkins University Press. The distribution agreement brings the full text of 47 highly regarded academic journals to the company's ProQuest® online databases, including ProQuest Research Library™, Literature Online, Periodicals Contents Index Full Text™, Ethnic NewsWatch™, GenderWatch™, International Index to Black Periodicals and to microform through Serials in Microform. The agreement allows ProQuest to distribute the Johns Hopkins University Press journal content to educational institutions, libraries, and other markets around the world.

“Johns Hopkins University Press is one of the largest and the oldest university publisher in North America,” said Steven Hall, senior vice president, publishing for ProQuest Information and Learning.  “It is known not only for book publishing but also for its excellent scholarly periodicals. Our databases will be richer for the addition of these journal titles in classics, literature, politics and science.”

Included are key titles such as American Imago, American Quarterly, Callaloo, Eighteenth Century Studies, Human Rights Quarterly,  Journal of the History of Philosophy, Literature and Medicine,  Modern Fiction Studies, Perspectives in Biology & Medicine, Shakespeare Quarterly, Studies in English Literature, 1500-1900, Technology and Culture, and World Politics.

None of the content is subject to any embargoes. In addition, the agreement grants ProQuest rights to digitize complete backfiles of 17 titles as part of the company's PCI Full Text archival database. Most titles are available in ProQuest products now.
