ProQuest Continues as Library Distributor of The Lancet
Divided line

ANN ARBOR, Mich., January 18, 2007 - ProQuest Information and Learning will continue to distribute the acclaimed medical journal The Lancet to libraries around the world. The renewed contract allows libraries to access The Lancet integrated within ProQuest's variety of popular scientific, technical and medical (STM) databases.

Published by Elsevier, The Lancet is widely considered to be one of the most influential medical journals in the world.  With a mission to help medical professionals continually advance and improve the treatment and care of their patients, its readers are the clinicians and researchers who have steered the course of medical progress and care for more than a century.

The Lancet's long publishing history includes breakthrough research from Lister, Salk, Fleming, Epstein and Barr, and others who have helped hundreds of thousands of clinicians around the world to improve health and save lives.  While its research routinely makes headlines around the world - in 2004, major American newspapers alone covered Lancet articles more than 400 times - The Lancet is also known for its independent, authoritative voice in global medicine. Its commitment to international health is delivered through research and analysis from all regions of the world and its thought-provoking opinion is communicated by three editorials every week.

The agreement with Elsevier is part of ProQuest's ongoing strategy to support its STM customers with highly respected and authoritative titles.  The content from The Lancet is available through such ProQuest databases as ProQuest Medical Library and ProQuest Health and Medical Complete.  Backfiles will extend to January of 1990 and new articles will be available 60 days after their original publication date.

ProQuest is renowned for its vast, accessible journal, newspaper and periodical databases.  Continually expanding, ProQuest databases provide simple, intuitive access to well over 17,000 periodicals, with more than 8,800 in full text.
