ANN ARBOR, Mich., June 4, 2007 - ProQuest and Scopus are pleased to announce a unique reciprocal searching and linking partnership that will expand the research capabilities of mutual customers of CSA Illumina™ and Scopus®. This integration will enable users of CSA Illumina to find 4,500 Scopus titles in natural sciences, business, and economics directly integrated in their search results. In turn, Scopus users will be able to view records from selected leading ProQuest databases in social sciences from the CSA Illumina platform. CSA Illumina, from ProQuest, is a robust digital platform for bibliographic and full-text searching of more than 100 databases covering social sciences. Scopus is the largest abstract and citation database of research literature and quality web sources with smart tools to track, analyze and visualize research, covering over 15,000 titles from more than 4,000 international publishers. Mutual users will be able to cross-search the comprehensive and superior coverage of both well-established products in either single interface without any extra effort. Additional search results will be seamlessly integrated in the results set with a direct link to the original record on the native product and to full text if available. "ProQuest selectively considers partnerships that improve discovery… that can open new, more direct paths to high quality research. This is a great example of that strategy in action," said Matt Dunie, president of ProQuest. "Now on both platforms, a single search will now provide researchers with improved depth and breadth of content that supports research in STM, business, and the social sciences." Key bibliographic records from Scopus in natural sciences, business, and economics will be made available on the CSA Illumina platform. In turn, high quality titles in social sciences on the CSA Illumina platform, such as CSA Sociological Abstracts and Applied Social Sciences Index and Abstracts, will be made available on Scopus. "This partnership makes literature research even more effective using Scopus and CSA Illumina," said Jaco Zijlstra, Scopus Director. "Wherever users start their research, they can be sure to find the most comprehensive coverage of science, technology, medicine, and social sciences literature available, while still taking advantage of all features that Scopus and CSA Illumina offer." This reciprocal linking capability is available at no additional charge to customers who have both licensed the selected content from both CSA Illumina and Scopus, offering these customers even more return on their investment. Mutual customers will receive a notification when the linking agreement is activated at their institution.
