ProQuest Supports Professional Librarianship with Expanded Library School Program
Growing Program Provides Information Science Students with Complimentary Access to Acclaimed Reference Tools

ANN ARBOR, Mich., July 20, 2007 - Enrollment in the ProQuest Library School Program is now open for the 2007-2008 school year. The program makes ProQuest's acclaimed reference tools available to information science students at no charge during the school term. The program is aimed at supporting library education, allowing students to learn essential search skills on the data resources they are likely to encounter after graduation. "When ProQuest Information and Learning and CSA merged, we discovered our most compelling common value was a deep and abiding commitment to serving libraries and librarians," said Marty Kahn, CEO of ProQuest. "I'm pleased that ProQuest will carry on the legacy of these leading information companies by helping prepare future librarians." All ALA-accredited library schools in North America, plus library and information science degree-granting institutions outside of the U.S., are eligible for free term access to such popular resources as: o ABI/INFORM® As part of this program, RefWorks, a sister organization of ProQuest, has also made their Web-based research management, writing, and collaboration tool available for in-class instruction. The complimentary subscriptions will be available to library school students and faculty. Library schools that reside on a campus with four or more ProQuest databases are eligible to receive a classroom sampler of microfilm newspaper/research collections, and electronic versions of film subject catalogs. In addition to providing reference tools, ProQuest will make its professional training team available for on-site and/or remote training to classes utilizing these products. Many members of the training team hold an MLS or MLIS degree and all have extensive industry experience, making them valuable resources who can speak to students about careers in electronic publishing.
