BBC Radio: Author and Title Catalogues of Transmitted Drama, Poetry and Features, 1929 - 1975

First published catalogue of the entire output of BBC radio drama, poetry and features from the birth of broadcasting to 1975.
In 1955 over 10 million people listened to radio drama every week. At that time BBC Radio broadcast on average a thousand dramatic programmes a year, its repertoire drawn from all forms of literature and theatre: classical drama, contemporary plays, adapted novels and short stories and works written specially for radio by both new and established writers.
With the publication on microfiche of the BBC's Play Library catalogue cards, the extensive scope of radio drama and features becomes apparent. The two separate catalogues - author and title - make possible a systematic study of radio broadcasting during its most influential years.
