CHIS: Consumer Health Information Service

The public is more concerned today than ever before about health-related topics such as physical fitness, nutrition, AIDS, and drug abuse. But the accurate and authoritative information they want on these and many other health issues is often hard to find.
The CHIS collection makes this vital information available in a current microfiche file for your library. Among the many resource materials included in CHIS are:
A variety of viewpoints and sources are included on each specific health topic to provide a balanced overview. Special emphasis has been placed on "hot" topics, new health-related problems, and breakthroughs in medicine. For example, some topics covered in CHIS are:
The diagnosis, management, and treatment of disease--as well as health maintenance and good health practices--are also covered in the CHIS file.
Every two years, a new CHIS edition is published, containing new material unduplicated in the previous edition, although revised editions of particular brochures may appear in a later update.
The three most recent updates are available. Indexes are cumulated for the two most recent updates. (For example, customers who order the 1989 CHIS microfiche edition will receive the 1987-1989 index.) CHIS 1989 became available in April of 1989.
This important consumer collection is updated regularly and will provide your patrons with accurate information from respected sources that they otherwise might not be able to find.
