These documents, transcribed from originals in the British Museum and Public Record Office, provide a detailed and comprehensive record of diplomatic and commercial relations between the two nations. Over 9,000 pages of letters are reproduced on microfiche, mainly in English, their original language, with a few in French. The printed index, arranged in chronological order, gives the date and names of the correspondents for all 3,342 items as well as providing biographical information on each of the diplomats.
