MICROFICHE COLLECTION:
Arkansas Travelers, compiled by Inez Raney Waldenmaier. This is a listing of every man from every county in Arkansas who was 60 years or older in 1850. These settlers were from the older southern and eastern states and were mainly of English and Scotch-Irish ancestry. Although Arkansas became a state in 1836 and federal censuses are available from 1830, the 1850 census was chosen because it was the first census to give details. Full census information is not given here, just enough for identification purposes. Women over 60 without husbands are also listed. Publ. 1946. 45p. 1 fiche. |
