Digital Archiving and Access Program
Divided line

Many institutions are finding that the dissertations and master’s theses in their collections are in poor condition or difficult to access. As the Library of Congress’ official offsite repository for digital dissertations and theses in digital format, we’ve developed a comprehensive program that helps libraries archive (and provide easy access to) dissertations and theses, whether print or microform.

Our Digital Archiving and Access Program offers a full range of thesis/dissertation services, combining the best of bibliographic publishing, microform preservation, and online access. We’ll do all this for your school:

  • Archive – Film and archive your paper copies for posterity
  • Digitize – Digitize and host them on the Internet
  • Showcase – Provide free campus-wide electronic access to the full text of your institution’s dissertations and master’s theses
  • Distribute – Include them in our online dissertation database, used at every top academic library in the world

Other benefits include free perpetual online hosting at ProQuest; free MARC records; space savings; restored access to lost or stolen titles; and a new audience for older documents.
