About the Author

Kenneth D. Crews is a professor with a joint appointment in the Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis and the IU School of Library and Information Science. He is also director of the Copyright Management Center based at Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis, where he serves as Associate Dean of the Faculties. He received a Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1990. His dissertation, a study of copyright policies and fair use at American research universities, earned awards from both the Association for the Study of Higher Education and the Association of College & Research Libraries. He later revised and expanded his dissertation for publication by The University of Chicago Press. Prof. Crews studied history as an undergraduate at Northwestern University and received a law degree from Washington University in St. Louis. He practiced law in Los Angeles from 1980 to 1990.
