One of the many ways ProQuest Dissertation Publishing provides authors with the widest possible dissemination is through third party retailers such as Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, Docstoc and many other online and brick & mortar partners. Through these distribution channels authors with graduate works published from 2007 forward are more discoverable than ever.
Global Third Party Distribution Channels
Third party production of your dissertation or thesis
Third party retailers produce copies on-demand of your dissertation or thesis from scans of the original ProQuest published hard copy or directly from the electronic file. Copies are produced in either color or black and white, depending on the specs provided in the original ProQuest file or hard copy. Typical production time of your dissertation or thesis is 48 hours, after which it is shipped to the customer.
In addition, customers can download your dissertation or thesis in e-book form from select retailers such as Barnes & Noble (www.bn.com).
Frequently asked questions about third party retailers and distribution
Can I order copies of my dissertation or thesis from a third party at a discount?
Your dissertation or thesis is always available directly from ProQuest at a discounted price. To place a discounted order or for more information, contact our Author and School Relations team via email at disspub@proquest.com; North American authors may call 800.521.0600 ext. 77020.
What if I don't want my dissertation available for sale?
The only dissertations available for sale through retail channels are those dissertations where the author has opted in to permit third party distribution. Please see the next question for how to opt out.
My dissertation is being sold through third party retailers, even though I don't remember opting for (or want) third party distribution, what can I do?
Our Author and School Relations team can help. Contact them via email at disspub@proquest.com, or if you reside in North American, call 800.521.0600 ext. 77020. Make sure you have your ISBN number handy and that you identify yourself as the author of your dissertation. We'll start the process of removing your dissertation from third party retailers within 24 hours of you contacting us. Most retailers will remove your dissertation from their distribution stream within a few days. In some cases it may take a bit longer, however, rest assured that once we initiate the removal of your dissertation from our third party distribution partners, it will not be shipped or downloaded regardless if it is listed as available for purchase.
