Pivot and Scholar Universe Privacy Information
The Profile Databases may be available on or through the platform and features located at http://search.proquest.com and related platforms (collectively, the "Platform"), as well as on other ProQuest Sites, including www.scholaruniverse.com, http://pivot.cos.com/ and the CSA Illumina Site(s). Your access to the Profile Databases can be through several different mechanisms, depending on your or your Institution's subscription or membership status.
The Personal Information We Collect When You Use The Profile Databases, Generally.
Your privacy while using the Profile Databases and the Personal Information you may choose to provide to us (and we will collect) will depend on the manner in which you choose to use the Profile Databases.
As with some of the other ProQuest Sites, some portions of the Profile Databases can be accessed or used without entering any Personal Information and other portions of the Profile Databases may require you to provide Personal Information in order to access and/or use certain services, features or benefits.
For example, if you are using a campus computer at a Member Institution, you may be able to search and access the Profile Databases directly without a username or password. If you have a corporate or stand-alone subscription to a Profile Database, you may either have domain-enabled access or need a username and password for direct access. In some instances the username and password may be provided to you by your Institution. In other cases, you may choose to log in to the Platform with your username and password which you create through the Sites.
If you chose to create an account to access, search and/or access the features of Pivot and/or Scholar Universe (the "Account"), you will be asked to provide certain Personal Information, such as your first and last name, email and Institution. You may also be required to have a user name and password that you will use to sign in to your account and access certain features.
The Personal Information We Collect When You Use The Profile Databases, Generally.
In addition, we may use and/or disclose the Personal Information you or your Institution provide to us to Pivot users, such as Subscribing Institutions, researchers, corporations, foundations, and other users ("Pivot Users") in order to provide the Pivot features and services to you and other Pivot Users. For example, we may make the information contained in your Expertise Public Profile available to Subscribing Institutions as an aid to research and to foster collaboration between researchers around the world. We may also make this information available to foundations and other research-commissioning organizations, who may use the information in a variety of ways, including to identify individuals whom they can approach to act as peer reviewers, consultants or employees. We may also use the Personal Information you chose to provide to us in order to allow you to create and submit forms for grant applications. While your Pivot Public Profile is not generally available to the public at large (unless you chose to make it available), third parties may, in some instances, access your Personal Information through other sources. We are not responsible for third party uses of your Expertise Public Profile.
In addition, ProQuest may make the Personal Information you provide in your Expertise Public Profile available to you and other Scholar Universe Users in order to provide Pivot features and services, which may include:

Your Expertise Public Profile will contain the information, including Personal Information, when you or your Institution created or updated your Expertise Public Profile. For example, some or all portions of your Expertise Public Profile may show up on searches conducted on the World Wide Web if you have exported your Expertise Public Profile to a publicly viewable and/or searchable platform, and may be used to generate links back to the Profile Databases, the Platform, the ProQuest Sites, and/or other ProQuest's goods and services.
The Personal Information We Collect on Scholar Universe, Generally.
Anyone who is involved in scientific or scholarly research may have a profile in the Scholarly Universe database ("Scholar Public Profile"). Scholar Public Profiles may include your first and last name, email, professional address, Institution, current position(s) held, affiliations, title or rank, research interests, links to academic or professional webpage(s), publication lists and/or curriculum vitae.
Some or all portions of your Scholar Public Profiles may be searchable by members of subscribing Institutions or other parties and might, in some instances, show up on searches conducted on the World Wide Web. For example, when someone searches Scholar Universe and clicks on your Scholar Public Profile, Scholar Public Profiles may display your full name, position, biographic and current professional contact information and publications.
The Personal Information We Collect When You Create a Scholar Universe Account.
You may create an account in order to provide us with feedback and updated information and/or links about your Scholar Public Profile.
