Seven award-winning titles strengthen coverage of alternative press
ANN ARBOR, Mich., May 22, 2002 -- ProQuest Company's (NYSE: PQE) Information and Learning unit announced an agreement with Village Voice Media Publications to add the publisher's seven titles to its Alt-PressWatch Database. The full-text database contains content from the newspapers, magazines, and journals of the alternative and independent press.

Titles include The Village Voice, LA Weekly, Seattle Weekly, City Pages (Minneapolis-St. Paul), Cleveland Free Times, OC Weekly (Orange County, CA), and Nashville Scene. Coverage for the weekly newspapers begins with January 2002 and continues forward. In addition, ProQuest is adding Village Voice articles back to the first issue in 1955, with full text and complete indexing.

Village Voice Media is the nation's leading alternative weekly newspaper company. The Village Voice has been the recipient of three Pulitzer Prizes, and all papers have earned scores of other awards for reporting and criticism.

Alt-PressWatch was originally developed by SoftLine Information in the summer of 2001. SoftLine became part of ProQuest Information and Learning later that year.
