ProQuest Expands Periodicals Index Online™ to Include More Than 5,000 Journals
ANN ARBOR, Mich., June 20, 2007 -- ProQuest today announced the expansion of Periodicals Index Online (PIO), the leading index for periodicals in the arts, humanities, and social sciences. The latest content update to PIO added indexing for 176 titles, bringing the total to 5, 255 titles spanning from 1665 to 1995. Customers can now search over 16 million articles in 40 languages and dialects across a wide range of disciplines.

"No other index covers as many disciplines, is as broadly international in scope, or features as many languages as Periodicals Index Online," said Mary Sauer-Games, vice president of publishing at ProQuest.  "This new expanded version provides users with an even larger array of citations that lead to full text and a single access point for researching three centuries of content."

PIO indexes renowned scholarly journals, as well as primary source periodicals, with 200 journals added each year.  It is also a useful aid to locate articles in a library's print, microform, or  digital collections.  PIO includes such robust features as: quick search; post-search sorting and filtering; browse capability by title, subject, or language, and advanced search capabilities.

Recently, Charleston Advisor reviewed PIO, giving it a perfect score in both content and contract provisions, saying, "…for those familiar with the earlier incarnation of PIO/PAO, Periodical Contents Index Full Text, the new interface will be a revelation. ProQuest invested in extensive usability testing and made major improvements to the new interface."

This new content is now available. For more information about PIO, visit the company at www.proquest.com or call 1-800-521-0600.
