With some 300,000 entries, the Catalogue Général des Périodiques is a complete inventory on microfiche of the entire collection to 1959.
More than 60% of the titles recorded in the Catalogue Général des Périodiques are not found in any other catalogue. They include more than 5,500 Almanacs, about 1,500 journals published during the French Revolution, about 1,700 titles published by the underground press in the Second World War as well as the complete French local press - a collection unique to the Bibliothèque Nationale.
