The Health & Medical Collection is a comprehensive medical information resource for researchers, students, faculty, and healthcare professionals. Inside users will find biomedical content from MEDLINE®, built on a core of premier scholarly journals in full text such as The New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, and The BMJ.
In addition, this collection aggregates content in all forms of media to support the learning, teaching, and research needs of institutions. This includes medical reference ebooks, instructional videos, dissertations, and working papers. As the study of medicine is an evidence-based discipline, the Health & Medical Collection includes thousands of evidence-based articles and clinical trial records.
While other providers tend to focus solely on the information needs of established professionals, this collection’s unique mix of training content, scholarly literature, and clinical reference materials makes it accessible for undergraduates, medical students, and all others preparing for a career in healthcare.
Users can access articles relevant to their field in titles from leading publishers including Cambridge University Press, Springer, Elsevier, and BMJ.
The collection offers ongoing full-text access to leading scholarly publications including The New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, and The BMJ and is easily linked to other required content. Compared to other providers, ProQuest has shorter embargoes and more full-text content.
The collection supports end user need for diverse content with thousands of full-text dissertations unique to ProQuest covering many areas including nursing, psychology, and health management.
ProQuest amasses summary journals, conference proceedings, industry and healthcare reports, trade journals, books, and more into a single cross-searchable collection. These primary, secondary, and tertiary content sources cover the spectrum of medicine and give all users from undergraduates and faculty to clinicians and practitioners easy access to relevant content.
ProQuest collaborates with other information service providers to ensure that no matter where a researchers starts, connecting with ProQuest content is simple and seamless. In addition to The Summon® Service from ProQuest, ProQuest content is discoverable through OCLC WorldCat, Ex Libris Primo Central, PubMed, and Google Scholar. Additionally, through the ebooks tab on the ProQuest search results page, researchers can cross-search their organization's ProQuest ebook holdings (if available) alongside their ProQuest platform database content.
Students can learn from the expertise of physicians, researchers, and other faculty members through the Harvard Health Publications video series. Likewise, instructors can assign clips to students to reinforce textbook learnings or as a follow up to clinical experiences.
Access to evidence-based resources is as important as ever, which is why ProQuest includes thousands of evidence-based articles (systematic reviews and meta-analysis) and clinical trial records as well as expert opinions and findings from cohort and experimental studies.
Available on ProQuest, named as Best Interface in the 2015 Charleston Advisor Reader’s Choice Awards: “It is much more intuitive and easy to use than previous versions. It includes improved document viewing, easier navigation…Kudos to ProQuest.”
