Overview

From the Labadie Collection, University of Michigan and the Library of Congress.

Pamphlets are a vital primary source for the study of the anarchist movement. The Labadie Collection, originally the gift of Detroit's `gentle anarchist', Joseph Labadie, contains one of the richest and most extensive collections of anarchist pamphlets in the world.

The pamphlets in the Library of Congress Anarchism Collection are also exceptionally wide-ranging covering the history of the anarchist movement, the emancipation of women, the suppression of the Paris commune, atheism and the comparison of anarchism with state socialism. The collection also includes Spanish language pamphlets concentrating on anarchist activity during the Spanish Civil War as well as pamphlets published in Great Britain, France and Australia.

The microfiche edition brings together these two major collections providing researchers with ready access to a wide array of rare and historically significant anarchist texts.
