During the 1920s the Synodal Commission of the Roman Catholic Church in China launched a periodical for circulation to hundreds of Catholic missions in China. Today this publication provides a unique record of Chinese life and culture before the age of Communist rule. In this collection, researchers can explore such key topics as the movements to use Chinese dialects in the liturgy of the Mass, adaptations of the catechism to Chinese ways of understanding, the creation of seminaries and native orders of sisters, and changes in traditional church architecture to reflect Chinese values.
