The Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority was founded at Howard University in 1908 and is the world_s oldest Greek letter organization of women of African descent. The Ivy Leaf, the official organ of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, has been published quarterly since 1921. Through both word and illustration, The Ivy Leaf reveals the myriad experiences emanating from the African American female collegiate experience. It is a long-term view, covering nearly eight decades of the 20th century.
