More than a year before the opening session of the Versailles Peace Conference of January 1919, President Woodrow Wilson realized that the American delegates would have to be supplied with a vast amount of information to aid them in the negotiations. The President assembled a group of scholars to write a series of reports on the history and politics of the areas to be discussed at Versailles. Select Reports of the American Commission to Negotiate Peace is the first published collection of over 100 of the major reports that were used by the American delegates. These reports reflect the broad scope of the Versailles Conference.
