Because few countries are economically self-sufficient, international business has become and will continue to be an important economic force. In recent years, as economists, businessmen, and government officials have become increasingly concerned with the enormous balance of payments deficit, a wide range of issues relating to international business has moved to center stage in discussions of the prospects for U.S. industry to reassert itself competitively in world markets.
