Overview

Research in economics--there's an ongoing flood of new information, new findings, new methods. But from the point of discovery to the time of publication, years can pass. When the journal is published, space restrictions often lead to the omission of useful results, clarifying discussions, charts and graphs, empirical methods, data, and mathematical proofs that can be essential to the practicing economist.

The alternative: economics working papers--preliminary research reports that offer complete, full-text, and timely information gathered from major research centers around the world and now available as a microfiche collection.

Working in cooperation with Cambridge University Press, Professor Halbert White of the University of California at San Diego has compiled recent research reports on topics including economics, econometrics, and finance from more than 60 leading universities, business schools, government agencies, and private research firms. Papers date from 1985 to 1987, with approximately 1,500 reports for each year, linking students and practicing professionals to the relevant information they want and need today.

Working Papers in Economics is divided into five units, each covering specific research centers. Call your UMI Account Representative for more information.
