Basic Search

Now, we can examine how Historical Newspapers’ content is delivered. There are a variety of ways to search the database. The simplest is to use a “keyword” search approach in the Basic Search Screen, and to limit your search by date range. We have the choice of searching on a specific date, before a date, and between dates

(1) More Search Options opens to allow user to search by (2) article type, author, & to sort results by oldest first, most recent first, or most relevant first.

Here we are searching by (3) article title (ti) and Titanic (4) between April 16, 1912, and April 23, 1912, to trace coverage of the Titanic sinking, across all newspapers in the ProQuest Historical Newspapers Collection.
