Using Title Lists

ProQuest® Title Lists lets you produce lists of the publications included in ProQuest databases. Each database product includes publications that either focus on a specific area of interest (such as business), or that are diverse enough to span a wide range of general interest topics.

How to Download ProQuest® Title Lists from www.proquest.com:

  1. Go to http://www.proquest.com and choose Title Lists.

    You see the Title Lists page.

  2. If you know the name of the Database Product:

    1. Enter the product name in the Database Product field.

    2. Select the Product Media (Electronic or CD).

    3. Click SEARCH.

    Or

    If you don't know the name of the Database Product:

    1. Click Browse to view a list of available products.

    2. You see the Browse Title Lists page.

    3. Click the name of the desired Database Product.

  3. You see the Select Title List Format page.
    (If you want to see the Title List for the diversity studies databases, these are not dynamically generated. Instead, at step three you will see an Excel file. See the instructions for handling Excel files in step 6 below.)

  4. In the Statistics area, select the statistics you would like to view for the Title List.

  5. Most of the statistics are self evident, but two may need more explanation:

    (Some statistics for the Newspaper, CD_ROM, and Licensed Database products are not available yet.)

  6. In the Format area, click the output format for your Title List:

Importing Data into an Excel Spreadsheet

  1. Close your browser and open Excel.

  2. Choose Open in the File Menu and select the comma delimited file you saved.

  3. The Excel Wizard will ask a few questions for formatting. Choose these settings:

  4. Column data format: general

  5. Click Finish.

    The spreadsheet will open in the Excel window. Adjust your column widths, fonts, etc., as necessary.

    You can now sort titles by date, ISSN, title, or any other column by using the Sort function under the Data Menu.

Establishing Title Counts

You can quickly see how many publications are available in any format or category by viewing the number in parentheses below the category label.

Viewing Titles Available in Specific Formats

If you download the information and import it into Excel, you can quickly see what formats are available for each title.

  1. Follow the steps above to download and import the information into Excel.

  2. Select the area to sort.

  3. Select Sort from the Data menu.

  4. Select the column you want to sort on (for example, Page Image First).

  5. You can now see which titles are available in Page Image format.
