Leading Scottish library consortium will open access to extensive collection of research materials

RINGWOOD, UK, January 25, 2018 – Academic institutions across Scotland, together with special libraries, will now have access to an extensive collection of resources following ProQuest’s appointment to the print and ebook framework agreements for the Advanced Procurement for Universities and Colleges (APUC) for LIB1007 AP Print Books & Standing Orders and LIB1004 AP eBooks & eBook Collections.

APUC is the procurement centre of expertise for all Scottish universities and colleges, selecting the best suppliers to partner with member universities, colleges and special libraries.

Under this new agreement, APUC members can acquire print and ebook materials through the OASIS® and Ebook Central® platforms. Using a variety of acquisition models, including Access to Own (ATO), institutions can access the industry’s best and broadest book offerings, including more than 25 million print titles and 1.5 million ebooks. Print fulfilment will be managed through ProQuest’s established distribution centre in the UK, which provides customised services including shelf-ready books, and speeds the time from order to delivery.

APUC members who also have the Alma® solution can simplify their Books workflow utilizing this library services platform helping librarians manage their entire collection through a simple interface. They will also have access to ProQuest’s collection development consultants and UK-based customer and technical services teams for expertise on content curation, technical integrations and other operational efficiencies.

“We are honoured that APUC has recognized ProQuest’s commitment to delivering the best books, best platform and best service to its members,” said Kevin Sayar, Senior Vice President and General Manager, ProQuest Books, “We’re excited to support the important work of Scottish libraries as they educate the workforce of the future.
