Korea’s most influential English-language newspaper offers unparalleled perspectives for global research

ANN ARBOR, MI, April 23, 2018 – Sixty years’ worth of content from The Korea Times is now available through ProQuest®, thanks to a new partnership with the newspaper’s publisher. Using the ProQuest platform, users can browse, read cover-to-cover, or search full digitized issues of the paper – including images – from 1956 to 2016.

The oldest and most influential English-language newspaper in Korea, The Korea Times is globally recognized for its coverage of international business, economic and financial news, as well as perspectives on regional issues and events. On the ProQuest platform, researchers can quickly find The Korea Times content they need with features like hit highlighting, searchable PDFs, full-image downloads, and more.

"The Korea Times provides a window into historical and modern politics, society, economy, and culture in Korea,” said Susan Bokern, ProQuest Vice President, Product Management. “It’s an invaluable source for researching international relations, Korean studies, economics and more – not just in Asia, but around the world. We are delighted that this partnership allows librarians, students and faculty to easily access this sought-after content for teaching, learning and research.”

“From the nuclear crisis in North Korea to Korean relations with the U.S., Japan, China and Russia, The Korea Times provides a broad overview of global issues,” said The Korea Times President and Publisher Lee Byeong-eon. “Researchers can explore these issues not only through articles, but also photos, ads, obituaries, cartoons and more. Digitizing these materials ensures that these important historical perspectives will never be lost.”

In addition to The Korea Times, the ProQuest Historical Newspapers™ archive includes more than 50 digitized, cross-searchable newspapers spanning more than two centuries. With focus on key U.S. and international titles, the collection provides content, context, and connection for researchers.
