Serials Solutions has been providing answers for the complexities of e-resources for almost 12 years. It all began with DLF-ERMI. Developed years ago, DLF-ERMI helped shape many of the standards and practices used in libraries and systems today. When Tim Jewell and his colleagues created their recommendations, there was little experience with commercial ERMS, and ideas like PDA and Webscale Discovery weren’t even on the radar.  So what has changed and what can we gain from our experience that will influence future products and best practices for solutions in libraries today?

I believe that utilizing an ERMS (360 Resource Manager, for example) is like a marriage: If you make good choices in the beginning, you’re a few steps ahead.   As things change over time, an open mind and willingness to put in consistent effort to reach your goals leads to ongoing success and reward.  How would you like to learn from others’ first-hand experience as you establish your own marriage, I mean ERMS? This learning opportunity is available to you now in a series of five webinars organized around the foundations of ERMS and their related systems and standards.

Your first ERMS webinar, The Legacy and Promise of E-Resource Management Systems, is now available. In this webinar, you can learn about past and present ERMS from librarian Tim Jewell as he shares his research and in-library experiences.

Over the next few months, you’ll have a chance to hear live from your colleagues and other industry experts on ERMS through three additional webinar opportunities. Register for the next live webinar on June 13, 2012, Our Management Solutions Just Got Better—Find out How, and learn all about the latest improvements to 360 Resource Manager and 360 Counter. We’ll focus on these hot topics:

  • Getting information easily into the system so you can get the most out of it
  • Improving workflow and communication for greater efficiencies and ROI
  • Enhancing decision making by allowing you to do more with your data

We want to help you meet your goals for improving service to patrons and for impacting library operations in a positive way.  One of the best ways we can do this is by connecting with you, and connecting you with each other in sessions that have practical application.  So, I invite you to participate!  There’s a little something for everyone.
