Psychology of Well-Being: Theory, Research and Practice, has the stated aim to examine and understand “the biopsychosocial and behavioural factors leading to enhanced well-being, optimal emotional processing and the prevention of psychological dysfunction” through intervention studies, meta-analyses, integrative review papers, scientific reports, commentaries, debates and letters to the Editor. Recently published material includes the debate, “Why won’t it Stick? Positive Psychology and Positive Education,” the research paper, “Development and feasibility of a mobile experience sampling application for tracking program implementation in youth well-being programs,” and the commentary, “Positive Instruction in Music Studios: Introducing a New Model for Teaching Studio Music in Schools Based upon Positive Psychology.”
In addition to this content solicited by the journal, open thematic series are also published, such as special issues on “Music and Well-Being” and “Positive Psychology and Well-Being—Creating Sustained Impact.” The latter series “is concerned with showcasing leading research and practice which contributes to our understanding on how to create sustained improvements in well-being across a wide range of life domains.” Articles include studies integrating technology and real-time data collection into the research, such as “Development and Feasibility of a Mobile Experience Sampling Application for Tracking Program Implementation in Youth Well-Being Programs. Usually data collection to assess a program is limited to measuring changes in responses at the beginning and the end of implementation. The authors used a mobile app called Wuzzup and an experience sampling method (ESM) to repeatedly query the experience of their subjects in their “natural environment. Sampling can be of real-time feelings, thoughts and actions in response to the occurrence of everyday events.” Use of the Wuzzup app and the subjects’ responses to everyday situations could chart their progress throughout the program as well as provide reinforcement and support of positive behaviors.

Material here is well-researched and well-written and will be of interest to those seeking to learn about new and emerging methods of well-being research.
