ProQuest continues to improve the research experience through 360 Link. The latest release of 360 Link includes significant user experience enhancements, which add to the major development work completed over the past year to fully re-design and improve linking for researchers.
The most significant aspect of this release is new integration and display of Altmetrics (alternative, article level metrics) via Altmetric.com. Libraries can choose to display Altmetric.com citation badges on the 360 Link Sidebar or main results pages, to display information about an article's scholarly impact as expressed through online, social media and news mentions. Users can see the popularity of a desired article, as well as have the ability to click through to more details which display social media commentary on the article and potential links to related content that have been posted.
360 Link customers can immediately take advantage and activate the altmetrics feature by simply checking boxes in the 360 Link administrative console. There is no programming, configuration or development required. This upgrade is free and does not require a subscription to Altmetric.com.
The latest release includes additional customization options for libraries to implement at their own discretion, each of which strengthen the library’s role within the research process:
-- Right-to-left language support (labels, display of information, and responsive design) in the new 360 Link Sidebar and full results page for Arabic, Hebrew, and Farsi
-- Integration of a custom or default ILL link on the new Citation Linker form
