ABSTRACT
The emergence of pressure on natural resources depends on how they are managed and used. The article offers an overview of key global and local environmental problems the population is facing with. One of the most important natural resource is the water. Thus, the article presents an analysis of the water resources and their quality. Another important aspect is overcrowding. This leads to overuse of the resources system. Because of the importance it has, the article analyses the evolution of the population. An increase in number of residents involves the application of measures to improve the environment in terms of health. Also, the initiatives of solving environmental problems should be carefully evaluated prior to their implementation. Misapplication measures may generate new problems in other areas. In this respect, it is necessary to coordinate policies and initiatives, as well as a cooperation between various local, regional, national or international authorities.

1.Introduction
In terms of environmental protection, the most important issues are water quality, waste management, air pollution and soil pollution. Biodiversity in Romania allows the existence of many species of fish and birds.
Climate change is local issues that affect the environment. In Romania, climate change is manifested by the increase of the multi-annual temperature, the lack of precipitation during the summer, the desertification and the strong storms. In order to combat climate change, some measures to reduce greenhouse gases can be applied.
Water resources are unevenly distributed, with pressure due to anthropogenic pressures. National Strategy for management of flood risks in the medium and long envisages integrated management of water resources and adjacent spatial planning and urban development, nature protection, agricultural development and forest protection transport infrastructure, construction and tourist areas.
At present, particular attention is paid to the production of energy through the use of renewable resources.
Industry and transport pollute air, water and soil. This type of pollution requires longer recovery times.
It is considered that greenhouse gas emissions are causing global warming. Manifestation of this process causes temperatures to rise, glaciers to melt, abundant rainfall in a short period of time, leading to flood periods.
Another important aspect is the increase in the number of inhabitants of the planet. This growth exceeds...
