Abstract: The new academic study programs in the field of information systems have to determine proper theoretical concerns from diverse perspectives. In this respect, sociocybernetics seems to satisfy the most of all requirements regarding the interdisciplinary approach of the current cyber security and cyber defence matters. Sociology as many other disciplines started to be involved in finding explanations and theoretical solutions for cyber themes.
The present paper presents both a short state of the sociocybernetics field and also the main directions for study of the cyber security and cyber defence matters from the socio-cybernetics perspective. Since the cyberspace is an extremely complex and large-scale social system we can consider Sociocybernetics, besides the other Cybernetics Paradigms, to be a proper method of study. However, even though the diversity of matters in cyber security and defence require multidisciplinary thought and expertise, there is no a large interest to the development of cyber defence training and education initiatives. Work in cybernetics and systems science suffers from a lack of educational programs in universities. The result is inefficient development of the multidisciplinary knowledge in the systems sciences.
Keywords: socio-cybernetics, cyber security, cyber defence, cyber sociology.
1. Sociocybernetics as an alternative to current theories
Regarding the relationship between cybernetics, on the one hand, and all other domains of knowledge, on the other hand, there were various opinions that cybernetic models cannot be applied unlimited or without restrictions in the complex fields of social and human sciences1. Today we could notice a large utilization of cybernetics and application of its model to the most social domains. More than that, some authors argued that Higher Education Institutions has to lead the way in understanding the combined impact of ecological, demographic, cultural and technological changes on diverse social systems. Thus, a particularly constructive role is designed for the transdisciplines: first and second order cybernetics, socio-cybernetics.2
According with the American Society for Cybernetics (www.asc-cybernetics.org), Cybernetics, has been passed through four successive evolution phases - engineering cybernetics, biological cybernetics, social cybernetics, and design cybernetics3. Even though many scholars associate the term "cybernetics" with computers and robotics, Umpelby is one of those believing that cybernetics may have the significance of the science underlying the social and design sciences, in a similar way that physics...
