Abstract
This dissertation provides the first complete critical edition of Christine de Pizan's Dit de la pastoure. A brief introduction sets the text within the literary corpus of its author and gives biographical information on Christine. Chapters 2-4 contain a discussion of the manuscript tradition of the Dit de la pastoure as well as a defense for the selection of a base manuscript and details of editorial policy, and the fifth chapter provides a list of all errors in all extant manuscripts of the poem. The sixth chapter, the main body of the dissertation, contains the edited text of the Dit de la pastoure, which is followed by a complete list of literary variants from all extant manuscripts, a glossary, a list of proper names, and a list of works consulted.
