The previous volumes of the Scarecrow Press subseries on the history of diplomacy have all been concerned with relations between the USA and various parts of the world. This one breaks new ground in dealing with Chinese foreign relations. The author has exceptional qualifications for his task, having been employed throughout his career as a Far Eastern analyst with several US government departments and universities, and having eighteen previous books to his credit.
