Abstract
Die ersten Symptome des Cowden-Syndroms werden an der Mundschleimhaut und auf der Haut gefunden. Eine maligne Entartung tritt in fortgeschrittenen Phasen, besonders in der Thyreoidea und an der Brust, auf. Aus diesem Grund ist es von besonderer klinischer Relevanz, das Syndrom frühzeitig zu erkennen, bevor eine maligne Entartung eintritt. Bei der Früherkennung dieses Syndroms ist der Zahnarzt i. allg. der zuerst Angesprochene, dem eine wichtige Aufgabe zuteil wird. In dieser Arbeit wird von einem typischen Fall des Cowden Syndroms berichtet.
First lesions of Cowden syndrome appear in the oral cavity and on the skin. Malignant transformation is a late, common event in thyroid and breast. The early diagnosis of Cowden disease prior to the development of internal malignancy, particularly of the breast and the thyroid gland, is very important. We emphasize that the dentist may be the first health care professional who recognizes the syndrome, and this is a crucial step in the prevention and cure of the predictable malignancy.
