Working as a self-shooting PD on the second series of 'Emergency With Angela Griffin' threw up its own unique challenges, whilst following the Devon and the Wales air ambulances, writes producer/director Steve Allen.
A major factor in planning the series was that it wouldnt just be a case of following the action with a PD. We wanted to send Angela, the presenter along on helicopter flights too.
But the latest regulations meant that before Angela and I could even consider filming in air ambulances, we both had to complete a Civil Aviation Authority approved training course. This consisted of us joining a residential week of training for a new intake of paramedics hoping to gain a coveted place with the Wales Air Ambulance crew.
