Sixteen months after the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System opened an urgent care center in Manhattan after St. Vincent's Hospital closed, the system has closed the center due to a lack of use.
North Shore-LIJ last week stopped operating the North Shore-LIJ Medical Group Urgent Care Center on W. 20th Street due to low demand.
The system opened the center to provide medical care in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan after St. Vincent's closed in April 2010, leaving the area without an emergency room.
