Sydney-based Polaris Marine is eyeing a period of expansion in the commercial marine sector, after its recent purchase by private equity investors.
Polaris Marine manager Harley Flett says that development has provided an opportunity for growth and investment in the national market through the acquisition of larger vessels and project-oriented machinery.
"Polaris has increased in size over its 26 years and now includes a fleet of over 20 vessels and barges and over 50 employees," Flett says.
"Our main services today include towage in local, coastal, national and international markets, cargo and bulk load-outs, barge hire and charters, project contracts, construction deliveries, marine salvage and general marine consultancy.
"After many years of involvement in conducting various larger job scopes, Polaris is in a position to provide a complete package of supply and service for any circumstance involved in the commercial marine industry."
Established in 1986 by Jim Boyd, the company was founded specifically to service moorings in Sydney Harbour using a single vessel, the 'Polaris'. This was a...
