After seven years in the cafe business and eight years in catering, Jackie Powers knows her way around the food industry.
Powers, 44, owns Orange Glory Cafe, a quaint place nestled in next to the Little Theatre on East Avenue. The small cafe does not have much space indoors, but outdoor seating looking out on East Avenue solves that problem.
With its brightly painted walls and friendly, laid-back atmosphere, the cafe, which opened in 2005, possesses some of the Parisian charm that Powers intended to capture in the design of the eatery.
Powers had been a social worker before turning to the catering business. She says a trip to Paris changed her professional goals from social work to food preparation.
