Abstract

To the Editor: Although butorphanol tartarate, a synthetic opioid analgesic, is relatively contraindicated in patients with cardiac disease, it may be used for its positive chronotropic and inotropic effects [1,2]. Heart rate remained above 55 bpm and BP at 110-120/70-80 mmHg after anesthetic induction and throughout the duration of surgery.
