Abstract

The aim of this article is to introduce the reader into society as seen by children. We present the most important findings of a research about the children's representations on a major social object: Transgression. We analyzed 150 stories written by boys and girls, from 8 to 14 years, from ten schools in the city of Barcelona (3 upper-class and 7 working- class). We employed an innovative qualitative technique, consisting of an unfinished story that children must end. From the texts they produced, we analyzed the children's social stereotypes about transgression. We wonder: How do children explain transgression? What characteristics do they attribute to the transgressor? We study characteristics of the transgressor, intentionality and causes of the violation of social norms from children perspective.
