Health visitors from the Sandweil Trust, based in the West Midlands, are promoting a new safety campaign to warn parents about the dangers of nappy sacks, which can be fatal if a baby is left alone with one.
So far, 1 1 babies in the UK have died from suffocation due to nappy sacks that have been stored near to their cots. The thinness of the plastic sacks mean that they can cling to a baby's face when breathed in. Usually young babies are unable to then pull the bag away from their faces.
