»Police chiefs have been accused of snubbing Royal Parks after new figures revealed the number of recorded crimes have rocketed in the last few years.
Murad Qureshi, a London Assembly member, said that he feared that the Metropolitan Police had downgraded the priority of keeping Regent's Park and Hyde Park safe since taking over responsibility for them in 2004.
Mr Qureshi voiced his fears after obtaining figures from the Mayor of London which showed that in the year before the Met took over, 465 crimes were recorded in all Royal Parks.
