The Wigmore Hall recital by the Scottish pianist Murray McLachlan on 4 January was not for the faint-hearted. It was encouraging to see a large audience, containing several of the country's noted pianists, attend what was billed as the first programme marking the Centenary of Erik Chisholm's birth. There was therefore a Scottish flavour in the choice of music, alongside subtler connections.
