SAN ANGELO has a lot to offer as far as entertainment, shopping, and the great outdoors. Big city folk might think the smaller city boring, but just maybe they're wrong. Yes, great food, unique shopping and even live music can be found around town. But, for real outdoor adventure there's San Angelo State Park.
The park offers camping, picnicking, hiking and mountain biking on miles of well developed trails. There are even trails for horseback riding if you BYOH - bring your own horse. O.C. Fisher lake offers swimming, fishing, and boating~when it's not bone dry due to drought. Bird and wildlife observation tours are available to groups. Hunting at the park is assigned by lottery. Lucky hunters can find turkey, deer, and a few exotic axis deer during the proper seasons. History and archaeology buffs will get excited about the American Indian petroglyphs and prehistoric animal tracks to be found.
But for a lot of visitors and San Angeloans alike, the real thrill at San Angelo State Park is seeing the bison and longhorns ranging there.
