ownstait plays the kind of hard rock music -- menacing vocals and heavy guitars over a punishing beat -- that's used to energize the crowd at such events as professional wrestling matches.
In fact, the Fort Wayne-based group's music is precisely that: Downstait is responsible for the theme songs for three WWE Superstars -- The Miz ("I Came to Play"), Dolph Ziggler ("I Am Perfection") and Alex Riley ("Say It to My Face").
Having its music played nearly every week on "WWE Monday Night Raw," which airs on the USA Network, has considerably benefited Downstait.
"It has done well for us," Downstait bassist and vocalist Sean Arata says. "It is always good when you are being played three times every week on the highest watched cable show on TV. It has definitely helped substantially getting our name out there."
Although having its music featured so prominently on the television program gives Downstait unparalleled exposure, there is a problem in that it is not credited.
